# Use the command palette

> Open the search bar with a keyboard shortcut to jump to any page, run common actions and search styles, collections and materials.

The command palette is the **Search...** bar in the top navigation bar. It takes you to any page you can access, runs a few common actions and starts a search in your styles, collections or materials, all from the keyboard.

**Where to find it:** Top navigation bar → Search...

1. **Open the palette**
   Click the **Search...** field in the top bar, or press **⌘K** on Mac or **Ctrl+K** on Windows. Press the same shortcut again to close it. On a phone, tap the search icon in the top bar.

   

2. **Type what you need**
   Type in the field **Search pages, actions, or entities...**. Results update as you type and the matching text is highlighted. You can type part of a name, several words (**col sty**) or the first letters of each word (**cs** finds **Collection & Styles**).

3. **Choose a result**
   Use ↑ and ↓ to move through the results and press ↵ to open the highlighted one. Press Esc to close the palette. On a phone, tap **Cancel**.

If nothing matches, the palette shows *No results found.*

## What the palette shows

- **Recent**: when the field is empty, the pages you opened from the palette, most used and most recent first. Click **Clear recent items** to empty the list. Recent items are remembered in your browser only.
- **Quick Actions**: shown on some pages only. On the **Collection** pages you see **Create New Collection**, and on the **Materials** pages **Create New Material**, if you have permission to create them.
- **Pages**: every page in the left sidebar that you can access, with its section on the right. Pages for features that are switched off for your brand, or that you have no permission for, are not listed. Pages related to the one you are on are listed first.
- **Actions**: **Toggle Sidebar**, **Switch Brand**, **Switch to Dark Mode** or **Switch to Light Mode**, and **Log Out**.
- **Search in...**: after you type at least two characters, shortcuts such as *Search Styles for "name"*, *Search Collections for "name"* and *Search Materials for "name"* open that list with your text already in the search box. Each one appears only if you can view that kind of record.
