# View and edit a color palette entry

> Open a colour from your library, change its picture, name, category, HEX and Pantone details, and save the update.

Every colour of your library has one page where you see all its details and can change them. Open it from the **Color Palette** list. The page is titled **Edit Color Palette** and shows "Update the color palette details."

**Where to find it:** Library → Color Palette → (colour) → Edit

**Requires:** permission `UPDATE_PRODUCT,VIEW_PRODUCT`

> [!NOTE]
> There is no separate read-only page for a colour. The colour opens straight in the edit form. Users who only have the permission to view products can see the list but cannot open this page.

## Open a colour

1. **Open the Color Palette page**
   From the left sidebar, click **Library**, then **Color Palette**.

   

2. **Open the colour**
   Click the picture of the colour, or click the three dots on the card and then **Edit**.

   

The page first shows loading placeholders while the latest data is fetched. If the colour no longer exists, the page shows **Color palette not found**.

## Change the colour

1. **Change the pictures**
   On the left, add or remove pictures of the colour. See [Color palette fields](https://docs.vestislabs.com/library/color-palette-fields/) for the accepted files.

   

2. **Change the name**
   Edit the **Name** field. It is required.

3. **Change the category, seasons and collections**
   In **Category**, **Seasons** and **Collections**, select the values you need.

   

4. **Change the HEX and Pantone details**
   Update **HEX Code**, **Pantone Code** and **Pantone Name**. To pick a colour visually, click the small square next to **HEX Code** and choose it in the colour window.

   

5. **Change the description and memo**
   Edit **Description** and **Memo** if needed.

6. **Click "Update Color Palette"**
   Click **Update Color Palette** at the bottom right. While it saves, the button reads **Updating...**. You see **Color palette updated successfully** and return to the list.

   

Click **Cancel** to go back to the list without saving. If you changed something and try to leave the page, **Unsaved Changes** asks "You have unsaved changes. Are you sure you want to leave? Your changes will be lost." with **Stay** and **Leave**.

> [!IMPORTANT]
> When you save, the colour is refreshed in the styles and bills of materials that use it, so a change of name or HEX code shows there too.

## Work with categories from the form

The **Category** dropdown lets you manage categories without leaving the page.

- Type a name that does not exist yet and add it. The **Create Category** window asks for a **Name** and has **Cancel** and **Create**. The new category is selected for you.
- Click the three dots next to a category and choose **Edit** to rename it (**Edit Category**, then **Save**).
- Click the three dots and choose **Delete** to remove it. The category that is currently selected cannot be deleted.

> [!TIP]
> When you select seasons, the **Collections** field is filled with the collections that belong to those seasons. You can still change the collections afterwards.
