# Color palette fields

> Reference for every field of the colour palette form: which are required, what you can enter and where the values show up.

The same form is used to create a colour (**Create Color Palette**) and to edit one (**Edit Color Palette**). This page lists its fields.

**Where to find it:** Library → Color Palette → New

**Requires:** permission `UPDATE_PRODUCT,VIEW_PRODUCT`

## Fields

| Field | Required | What to enter |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Pictures | No | One or more pictures of the colour, for example a swatch photo. Drop files or click to select them. |
| **Name** | Yes | The name of the colour. If it is empty you see "Name must not be empty". |
| **Category** | No | One colour category, for example from your [Color category settings](https://docs.vestislabs.com/settings/color-category-settings/). You can also create, rename and delete categories from this field. |
| **Seasons** | No | One or more active seasons. Selecting seasons also fills **Collections** with the collections of those seasons. |
| **Collections** | No | One or more collections the colour belongs to. |
| **HEX Code** | No | The colour code, for example #FF0000. Type it, or click the small colour square to pick the colour in a colour window. |
| **Pantone Code** | No | The Pantone code of the colour. |
| **Pantone Name** | No | The Pantone name of the colour. |
| **Description** | No | Free text describing the colour. |
| **Memo** | No | Free text for internal notes. |

## Pictures

- Accepted files: .jpeg, .jpg, .png and .svg.
- The maximum size of one file is 10 MB. Larger files are turned back.
- If a colour has no picture, the list shows a card filled with the HEX colour instead.

## Seasons

Only active seasons can be selected. Manage seasons in [Seasons settings](https://docs.vestislabs.com/settings/seasons-settings/).

## Buttons

| Button | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| **Create Color Palette** | Saves a new colour. While it works the button reads **Creating...**, then you see **Color palette created successfully**. |
| **Update Color Palette** | Saves the changes of an existing colour. While it works the button reads **Updating...**, then you see **Color palette updated successfully**. |
| **Cancel** | Leaves the form and goes back to the list. |
