# Material inventory dashboard

> See stock totals, low-stock and incoming counts and recent stock movements for one material from its Inventory tab.

The **Inventory** tab of a material opens the **Inventory Dashboard**. It gives you a quick read on how much of this one material you hold, how much is on its way, and the latest stock movements.

**Where to find it:** Library → Materials → open a material → Inventory → Dashboard
**Requires:** permission `VIEW_PRODUCT,UPDATE_PRODUCT`

## Before you start

- The **Inventory** tab only appears on materials that belong to your own library. It does not appear on materials from the Public Library.
- The **Production** and **Inventory** tabs are available only when the material production feature is switched on for your brand. If you cannot see them, ask your Brand Admin.
- To adjust stock from this page you also need the permission to update material inventory.

## Open the dashboard

1. **Open the material**
   From the left sidebar, click **Library**, then **Materials**, and click the material you want.

   

2. **Click "Inventory"**
   Click the **Inventory** tab in the row of tabs at the top of the material.

   

3. **Stay on "Dashboard"**
   The inventory area has four tabs: **Dashboard**, **Stock Overview**, **Stock Adjustment** and **Receiving**. The **Dashboard** tab is the one that opens first.

   

## Choose a location

Use the **Location** dropdown at the top of the page to look at one place only. It lists **All Locations**, then your **Warehouses**, then your **Suppliers**. The figures below the dropdown follow your choice.

## Read the summary cards

The cards show figures for this material. Each card can be switched on or off with **Customize** (see below).

| Card | What it shows |
|---|---|
| **Total Items** | The number of stock items held for this material. |
| **Total Value** | The value of that stock in your base currency. |
| **Low Stock** | How many items are marked as low stock. |
| **Out of Stock** | How many items are marked as out of stock. |
| **Incoming** | The quantity still on its way, labelled **From production**. |

Under **Total Items**, **Low Stock**, **Out of Stock** and **Incoming**, a **View all →** link opens the matching list. The first three open the stock overview (filtered to **Low Stock** or **Out of Stock** where relevant). **Incoming** opens the receiving list.

> [!NOTE]
> The **View all →** links open the brand-wide **Raw materials** inventory pages, filtered to this material, rather than the tabs inside the material. Use the **Stock Overview** and **Receiving** tabs if you want to stay inside the material.

## Customize the cards

1. **Click "Customize"**
   Click the **Customize** button at the top right of the page.

   

2. **Choose the cards to show**
   In the **Customize Dashboard** window, choose which columns to display in the dashboard: **Total Items**, **Total Value**, **Low Stock**, **Out of Stock** and **Incoming**.

   

## Recent activity and alerts

- **Recent Activity** lists the three latest inventory movements, headed **Latest inventory movements**. Each entry shows the reason, the material and colour, how long ago it happened, the location, and the quantity as **+** (increase) or **-** (decrease). When there is nothing yet, it says **No recent activity**.

## Adjust stock

Click **Adjust Stock** at the top right to start a stock adjustment. The steps are in [Adjust the stock of a material](https://docs.vestislabs.com/library/material-inventory-stock-adjustment/). The button only shows if you have the permission to update material inventory.
