# Receive incoming material stock

> Book delivered material from production orders into inventory, one order or many items at a time, from the Receiving tab.

The **Receiving** tab lists the production orders of this material that are shipped or about to arrive. When the goods are in your hands, you receive them here and the quantity is added to your stock.

**Where to find it:** Library → Materials → open a material → Inventory → Receiving
**Requires:** permission `VIEW_PRODUCT,UPDATE_PRODUCT`

## Before you start

- A production order only appears here once it has a shipment. Create it in [Create a material production order](https://docs.vestislabs.com/library/material-production-create-order/) and ship it in [Material shipping and tracking](https://docs.vestislabs.com/library/material-production-shipping/).
- Each order shows the destination of its shipment (a warehouse or a supplier location). That is where the stock is added.

## Read the board

At the top, three cards count the orders by status. Each shows the number of orders as **POs**, **Items** and **Qty**:

| Card | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **In Transit** | The shipment is on its way and not yet late. |
| **Ready to Receive** | The shipment is marked as delivered and waiting to be received. |
| **Overdue** | The estimated delivery date has passed. |

Below the cards, the orders are laid out in three columns with the same names. An empty column says **No orders**. Use the two buttons at the top right to switch between the board and a table.

Each order card shows the **Tracking Number** (when there is one), the production number, **Expected** date, the destination, and **Items** and **Qty** counts.

In the table view the columns are **Tracking Number**, **Production Order**, **Expected Date**, **Items**, **Qty**, **Status** and **Actions**. The status badge reads **In Transit**, **Ready to Receive** or **Overdue**.

## Receive a whole order

1. **Find the order**
   Look in the **Ready to Receive** column, or in the table for an order with the **Ready to Receive** status.

   

2. **Click "Receive"**
   Click **Receive** on the order card or table row. Only orders that are **Ready to Receive** have this button.

   

3. **Check the items**
   In **Confirm Receiving Items**, check the list. Each line shows the material picture, name, colour, destination and quantity.

   

4. **Click "Confirm Receive"**
   Click **Confirm Receive**. Click **Cancel** to leave without receiving.

## Receive only some items

1. **Open the items**
   Click **View Items** on an order card, or **View** in the table, to list the materials in the order.

   

2. **Select the items**
   Check the boxes of the items you are receiving. **Select All Items** (or **Select All** in the table) selects every item in that order.

3. **Click "Receive"**
   The button now reads **Receive** followed by the number of selected items. Click it. To receive across several orders, select items in each and click **Receive Selected** at the top right instead.

   

4. **Change a quantity (optional)**
   In **Confirm Receiving Items**, click **Change Qty** on a line, type the quantity you really got and click the tick. The field shows **Max** with the ordered quantity, and you cannot enter more than that.

   

5. **Click "Confirm Receive"**
   Click **Confirm Receive**. The button is disabled while a quantity is still being edited.

You should now see the received quantity added to **Available** on the **Stock Overview** tab.

> [!NOTE]
> You can also receive from the **Stock Overview** tab. Use **Receive** in the three-dot menu of a stock line. It opens the **Receive Items** window for that material and colour only.

## Troubleshooting

**An order is missing.** Only orders whose shipment is in transit, delivered or overdue are shown. An order without a shipment is not listed.

**The Receive button is missing.** Only orders marked **Ready to Receive** can be received.
