Import measurement cards from Excel
Turn an Excel size chart workbook into measurement cards: choose or set up a template, check what Vestis found, review and import.
Under review. This page is published while we check it against the live app, so some details may have changed.
Instead of typing a size chart, import it from an Excel workbook. A template tells Vestis where to read your size chart in the file. Each sheet of the workbook that holds measurements becomes its own measurement card.

Before you start
- Import from Excel only appears if the import is turned on for your brand and your role can update products. Contact support if you do not see it.
- Your file must be an Excel .xlsx file. Other file types are left out.
- The file should say which unit it uses (cm or inches). If it does not, you are asked to choose one.
Import with an existing template
Click "Import from Excel"
On the Measurements page, click Import from Excel next to New.
Choose the template
In the Template field, select the saved template that matches your workbook. The drop zone stays off until a template, or + New template, is picked.
Drop your file
Drag the .xlsx file into the drop area. Vestis checks the file against the template and shows one status row for it.
Click "Continue"
When the file is ready, click Continue.
Review the cards
On Review before importing, check the preview. It shows how many cards will be created, any Skipped sheets and any Warnings. Nothing is saved until you import.
Click "Import"
Click the Import button at the bottom right. It shows the number of cards, for example Import 3 cards.
You should now see the new cards in the Measurement Library.
If the file does not match the template
The status row tells you what is wrong. Depending on the case you can:
- Click Use followed by the template name, when Vestis writes "Looks like" and suggests another template.
- Click Fix mapping when the template almost fits but some column titles are missing.
- Click Set up a new template when the file does not match, or Set up this format when you chose + New template.
- Click Edit this template when the file fits, to change what the template reads.
Set up a new template
Choose + New template and drop your file. Vestis asks a few questions and fills in every answer for you. The window is called Check what we found.
Check the sheet
Look at the live view of your Excel sheet. Click a cell to change what Vestis found, for example the row that holds your column titles.
Say what each sheet is
Next to This sheet is:, choose the kind of sheet, for example Size specification, Grade rules, Sample round, How-to-measure guide, Block/Design or Skip this sheet.
Say what each column is
Click a column in the sheet, then next to This column is: choose its role. The roles are Reference code, Measurement name, Tolerance, Grading, Size column, Extra number column, Notes column, Difference column, Picture column and Ignore.
Mark the sample size
On a size column, check The sample was made in this size.
Set the unit (if needed)
Under Measurement unit, keep Detect from the file or choose Centimeters or Inches.
Name the template and continue
Enter a name in the Save these answers as field, for example "Size chart export", and click Save & continue.
Click Start over to begin again. To change a saved template later, choose it, click Edit this template, change what is wrong and click Save changes to template. A change updates the template for every file that uses it.
Note
Only pictures that sit on a measurement row, in a column set as a Picture column, come across. Fit photos under the table or on a sheet of their own stay in the Excel file. The review tells you which pictures are left behind.
A style that does not exist yet
If your workbook points to a style that does not exist, the review says "No style matches ... yet. Choose the collection we should create it in." Choose a collection in Choose a collection. The Import button stays off until you do.
